How to Make Life Better and the Simple Truth About Our Daily Routines

Eever found yourself immersed in the thought of a life that seems more vibrant, fulfilling, and promising?

Many of us harbour dreams of breaking free from a job that feels less like a source of inspiration and more like a relentless cycle of monotony.

We yearn for something more—a way to make changes in our lives that could bring us closer to our true passions.

Perhaps, like many, you envision writing your own book, pursuing a creative hobby, or maybe it’s a more practical ambition – earning a little extra on the side to fund your next adventure or mastering a new skill like playing the piano.

For some, it could be the desire for something more profound – finding a companion to share life’s journey with.

Whatever your dream, it resonates in your mind, whispering the possibilities like a steady mantra: “Let’s do this!”

Unleashing the Desire for Change and Overcoming Roadblocks

Perhaps you’ve even tried pursuing it once or twice, only for life’s demands to sidetrack you.

But that deep-seated desire for change—for personal growth and transformation—never truly leaves, does it?

Or maybe you’ve never taken that initial leap towards your dream, allowing the allure of what could be to remain a constant, gnawing presence in the back of your mind.

Seeing others living the life you desire can be disheartening, prompting you to question the universe, “Why not me?”

This yearning, this demand for change, can often spur you to decide that it’s time to try again, to take that initial leap.

But one question lingers:

  • Will this attempt be any different?”
  • Will I finally stick to it?”
  • Can I feel optimistic about this new endeavour?”

Let’s delve into this further:

Your 9-5 Grind, Daily Rituals, and How to Start Making Changes in Your Life

There was always a part of me that yearned for more than my 9–5 routine, a part that wished to break free and embark on a journey towards personal growth and transformation.

One day, while leisurely enjoying my sandwich during lunch, an advertisement caught my attention.

A seed of curiosity was planted: What if I ventured out to explore the opportunities out there?

So, once my workday ended, I found myself heading towards the location mentioned in the advert.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the pulsating energy of a conference room bustling with animated individuals.

It was an event about Herbalife marketing, a venture I was entirely unfamiliar with.

In the face of these polished, confident individuals, I felt a wave of intimidation.

Their apparent sophistication made it daunting for me to strike up a conversation.

The Comfort Zone Trap and Its Resistance to Life Changes

After that day, I decided this path wasn’t for me.

I stopped pursuing opportunities and reverted to the familiar comfort of my 9–5 job, diligently contributing to my employer’s success while the monotony of my own existence seemed to persist.

Evenings after work offered no respite.

I would return home, switch on the TV, and prepare dinner, often accompanied by the background noise of EastEnders, a popular UK soap opera.

The routine continued: cleaning up, consuming more television, and eventually surrendering to sleep.

Weekends were mostly about catching up on rest and investing more time in front of the TV.

Caught in a relentless cycle, I felt like I was spinning in place on my personal hamster wheel.

Learning from Others: A Friend’s Journey Towards Life Transformation

On the other hand, a friend of mine followed an entirely different rhythm in his daily life, a path that seemed to resonate with making changes for a better life.

Just like me, he held down a full-time job. Yet, in addition to his conventional employment, he also devoted time to a side project, painstakingly building his own business during his off-work hours.

What intrigued me was his preference for an evening shower, a deviation from the morning ritual I was accustomed to.

But it wasn’t his distinctive bathing habits that set us apart on our life’s journeys.

At first glance, our daily routines appeared quite similar.

After his day job, he would return home, flick on the TV (followed by his evening shower), prepare dinner, and enjoy his meal while watching a bit of television.

As in any household, dishwashing was a necessary chore that followed.

However, once the dishes were dealt with, he would diverge from my routine.

He would switch off the TV and plunge into his side project, dedicating his time and energy until it was time to call it a night.

Our routines varied by a seemingly inconsequential degree.

Yet it was this subtle difference, this dedication to his personal development and ambition, that dramatically altered the paths we tread in life, emphasising the power of conscious change.

How Small Changes in Your Daily Routine Can Lead to Big Life Transformations

The real test of your commitment to making changes in your life lies in whether they can transform your daily routine.

If your day-to-day routine remains a mirror image of its past self, it’s an indication that you may not be entirely serious about your latest resolution.

Your inspiring plan, though brimming with potential, is still restricted to the confines of your mind, as it has been for some time.

The Evolution of Self Through Making Changes in Your Life

However, a transformed you – one who embraces change – would incorporate this newfound direction into their daily life.

You would adopt a revamped daily routine.

Picture yourself rising an hour or two earlier before work or staying awake for an extra hour before turning in for the night.

Imagine investing your weekends in a side project instead of casual outings.

Relish in the joy of turning even the most tiresome traffic jam into an opportunity to learn from a podcast or an audiobook.

In this evolved version of yourself, motivation would flow naturally, lessening the burden of your tasks.

Your side project (or any new endeavour) would evolve from a mere idea into your passion and obsession.

It would begin to hold more value to you than your day job, becoming a guiding light in your life.

Unlocking the Secret to Successful Life Change

This was the secret my friend unveiled on his journey to living life on his own terms.

Like many of us, he faced the struggle of fatigue after long workdays.

Yet his fervent desire to improve his life was powerful enough to overcome the physical weariness.

The thrill of exploring the boundless possibilities of what he could create, the buzz of learning new skills, and the personal growth he encountered all added a layer of purpose and direction to his life, far more satisfying than merely earning a paycheck.

Making Changes in Your Life for A Powerful Personal Transformation

For a significant part of my life, I found myself enmeshed in the humdrum of mediocrity.

Every facet of my existence, from the routine to the exceptional, was marked by a sense of ordinariness.

It wasn’t the life I yearned for.

However, here’s the stark reality—if I had genuinely yearned to rise above the ordinary, to be more than just another face in the crowd, I would have made different, more empowering decisions.

I would have pushed myself beyond my comfort zone, refusing to be complacent in mediocrity.

I now understand that the crux of the matter lies in the choices I made in how I spent my day.

Lessons from ‘Lost’ Time and Their Importance in Making Life Changes

For an extended period, I was caught in a web of regret over the ‘lost’ time, mourning the untapped potential of what I could’ve achieved had I made better choices and optimised my time.

Consider this—even if all my efforts had culminated in failure, they would’ve endowed me with invaluable lessons.

These are insights gleaned only through the rigorous process of trial and error, teaching us more about ourselves and the world around us.
