Ever feel a twinge of guilt or regret after splashing the cash?
Or do you have your finances on lock, easily separating your must-haves from your nice-to-haves?
I’ll let you in on a little secret: back in my early 20s, I was a bit of a lovable goofball. There are plenty of things I’d happily do over, given the chance.
One thing I wish I had known was that building wealth isn’t just about raking in a huge salary.
The Importance of Wise Spending
Of course, a bigger paycheck can fast-track your financial freedom, but what really matters is how wisely you spend your hard-earned dough.
Imagine earning $100k a year but spending $120k – you’d be worse off than if you earned $50k and spent just $30k!
That’s how we end up with shocking headlines about celebs going bust, while some unassuming postie retires with a cool million in the bank.
Finding the Balance
If only I had scaled back my spending just a smidge and been more disciplined with saving and investing (cue heavy sigh).
But hey, no use crying over spilled milk, right?
Here’s the takeaway: as long as you strike a balance between your wants and needs, indulging in a few little luxuries won’t derail your journey to wealth.
Saving doesn’t have to be all work and no play!
Financial Wisdom and No More Excuses
I learned my lessons the hard way, and it’s all thanks to this classic finance book that everyone should read.

I used to think I couldn’t build wealth because I didn’t have a role model to guide me.
But with a treasure trove of knowledge at my fingertips – thanks, local library! – I’m fresh out of excuses.
Six No-Regret Investments
So, without further ado, here are six things I’ve spent money on and wouldn’t change for the world.
1. Travel: No Regret Spending Money on Memorable Adventures
I still remember my first trip abroad like it was yesterday – it was during a summer break in my 3rd year at university.
Talk about a mind-blowing experience!
I suddenly realised the world was so much bigger than my little corner of it, and just like that, I was bitten by the travel bug.
There’s nothing quite like exploring new places, connecting with all sorts of people, and immersing yourself in diverse cultures.
I wouldn’t trade my globetrotting memories for anything – the amazing folks I met, the mouthwatering local dishes I savoured, and the unforgettable experiences I had.
If I could, I’d do it all over again (minus those spur-of-the-moment trips, of course)!
2. Books on the iPad (Kindle): Investing in a World of Knowledge
Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of having my very own library.
Reading has always been my jam, and I loved hoarding all the books I’d read.
But when I moved to my current place, I had to part ways with hundreds of my beloved books. It was a heart-wrenching day, but it had to be done.
I was sceptical about the Kindle at first, convinced it couldn’t hold a candle to the joy of reading a physical book.
Boy, was I wrong!
Thanks to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited, my inner bookworm went into overdrive.
If you’re still on the fence about eBooks, check out these 10 benefits – who knows, you might just be swayed.
For over a year, I devoured three or more books a week until life forced me to pump the brakes.
But I’ll never regret those literary adventures.

3. Food: Enjoying Culinary Delights Without Regret
You know those lucky folks who can eat whatever they want without gaining a pound? Yeah, I’m one of them.
So, naturally, I became a full-blown food enthusiast.
I saw my high metabolism as a golden ticket to sample every tasty treat out there.
Plus, food was like a passport for me – each new dish was a chance to explore different cultures through my taste buds. I just couldn’t get enough!
While I don’t regret splurging on food, I should have reined in my culinary adventures a bit.
Once or twice a month would have been more reasonable, and I definitely could have done without all those takeaway orders.
4. Workout Gadgets: Spend Wisely for a Healthy Lifestyle
I once gifted an indoor bike and a sit-up bench to a sweet gal at the post office I used to visit before relocating from London to southeastern England.
That experience made me more discerning when it comes to workout gear.
I mean, using your indoor bike as a makeshift laundry rack can really change your perspective!
Now, my budget-friendly “worth every penny” workout arsenal includes:
This time around, I’ve hit the jackpot with each item, rounding out my perfect home gym setup.
No regrets here – probably because I actually use them on the regular!
5. Victorinox Kitchen Knife and Water Filter: Everyday Essentials Worth the Investment
Since I whip up meals daily, a top-notch knife is a game-changer.
Victorinox knives are a total dream. I just have a small one, not the full set.
My old, clunky knife couldn’t hold a candle to it.
The difference is night and day – no more wrestling with ingredients or getting frustrated in the kitchen.
And let’s not forget a reliable water filter. Tap water just won’t do for me.
As for bottled water? Not a chance!
Total waste of money, if you ask me…
6. Website Hosting Fees: Invest in Your Passion Project Without Regret
I have zero regrets about shelling out for my blog. It’s brought me immense happiness and has significantly improved my quality of life.
Every day, this little digital space of mine pushes me to explore new ideas, challenge my limits, and pursue continuous improvement.
You see, when you invest in something that fuels your passion and drives you to be better each day, it’s one of the best investments you can make.
So, if you’re contemplating whether or not to invest in hosting for your own blog or project, I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a whirl!
Final Thoughts: Embrace No Regret Spending Money for a Balanced Life
There you have it: the things I don’t regret spending money on.
Only the last three are part of my current lifestyle, as I’m on a mission to become debt-free.
Full disclosure: I indulged in a pizza takeaway the other day. But it wasn’t a lapse in judgement – it’s been 8 whole months since my last one (I promise, I’ve been good!).
